BURNING
Burning of yard waste is permitted if contained to a 5x5 area.
Burn permits are be issued through Idaho Department of Lands.
This includes permits for burn barrels, residential yard waste and all slash piles.
​Small cooking fires, recreational fires, and warming fires are open and do not require a permit.
Timberlake Fire Announces SAFER Grant Award
Timberlake Fire Protection District is excited to announce that our fire district has been awarded FEMAs SAFER Grant for the retention and recruitment of volunteers. The award amount for this grant is $405,760.00 spread out over a four year period. $127,000 each for the first and second year and $75,000 each for the third and fourth year.
The purpose of this grant is to bring in new volunteers to serve your district and retain them. Applicants need no experience as we will be providing training and new gear as part of this grant. Year One and Two we will be bringing on four volunteers each year all under this award. The goal of the district is to have a total of 51 volunteers (including current volunteers and those hired under this grant) within the next four years.
The performance period of this grant is 11/19/24 thru 11/19/28. The funds are reimbursed to the district as they are used.

ABOUT US
Timberlake Fire Protection District is a combination career/volunteer fire department in North Idaho. The Timberlake Fire Protection District was formed as a result of the merger of the Athol and Bayview Fire Departments in 1999.
The District covers an 83 square mile area of Kootenai County, with an approximate resident population of 8,000. The summer population booms to over 20,000 with visitors. Timberlake Fire also provides fire protection to the Little Blacktail Community in Bonner County.
